Arsenal could be set to re-ignite their interest in former target Youness Belhanda. The Moroccan has opened to the door to a possible exit from the Ukrainian league with the Premier League his preferred next point of call and Arsenal the choice destination.
“How long will I stay at Dynamo? I don’t know. If I have opportunities to go higher, I will seize them,” he tis quoted by The Metro.
“I am dreaming about England. Every player wants to play in England one day. I have to experience that.”
“My favourite club? Arsenal, of course.”
Interesting thoughts from the playmaker but as far as I am concerned, he falls into the luxury category for Arsenal. The Gunners already have plethora of playmakers and have some exciting prospects knocking fast and furiously on the first team door. Rather than gunning for another luxury in the mould of a playmaker or attacking midfielder that Belhanda represents, Arsenal should concentrate on efforts to land a top notch striker and a robust defensive midfielder. Those are two positions the Gunners have been lightweight in recent weeks and have suffered severely.
One reason why a move for Belhanda might be considered is the prospect of it bringing out the best in current sole forward Olivier Giroud. The pair formed a hugely successful partnership in Montpellier’s title winning season. But why go for Belhanda when rumours are rife that Giroud could be off in the summer?
