No Vardy no problem seems to be the statement Arsene Wenger is telling all Arsenal fans as the Frenchman is on the verge of finally signing a striker for Arsenal. Sanfrecce Hiroshima and Japan striker Takuma Asano has confirmed that the Gunners have approached him about a move to Arsenal.
Asano, 21, who plays for reigning J-League champions Sanfrecce Hiroshima is a full Japanese international with a goal in five games. He is set to be part of his Japan’s Olympic football team at the Rio 2016 Games.
Asano was quoted as saying: “I was a little stunned. But I feel like I have the confidence to succeed wherever I go.
“And if I go, I do have an idea of what it would be like…If I am loaned elsewhere; my take on it is that I give it 100 percent”
Asano is believed to have other offers from Switzerland and Germany but it seems he is keen on trying his luck under the tutelage of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger who can speak Japanese properly.
It seems work permit issues could see him loaned to another European clubs, as was the case with Ryo Miyaichi, who left Arsenal in 2015 after four injury-hit years at the North London club.
It’s believed that a fee in the region of £3 million has been mooted; a decent figure in this money driven transfer market, especially with the marketing opportunities that Asano could possibly open up in Asia.
Should Arsenal eventually sign the youngster, fans will be worried about how Ryo, and predecessor Junichi Inamoto, were used by the club.
