According to a report on talkSPORT, the Gunners are ready to launch a £32m bid to sign Inter Milan striker and captain, Argentine Mauro Icardi after missing out on the signing of England striker Jamie Vardy this summer transfer window.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is on the market shopping for a new striker this summer after losing England international and former Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck to a serious knee injury and Arsenal had hoped to sign Vardy after triggering his £20m release clause at the start of the month.
Unfortunately, Wenger has been forced to seek alternative targets after English premier league champions Leicester City confirmed earlier this week that Vardy had opted to snub his proposed move to North London in favour of signing a new deal at Leicester city.
Despite several names been linked with a move to Arsenal in recently, talkSPORT, claim that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has now made Mauro Icardi his new number one striker target this summer.
According to talkSPORT, the Gunners have been tracking the 23-year-old Inter Milan captain since last summer but are now set to formalise their interest by testing Inter Milan’s resolve with an opening offer worth £32m.
The Argentina international has been impressing for Inter Milan since joining the San siro giant from Sampdoria in 2013 and has since scored 52 goals and provided 15 assists in 105 games for Intter over the past three years.
The waiting game has started as we await how Inter respond to the Gunner’s offer when it’s tabled but I think Icardi would be an interesting signing for the Gunners if the club were able to tempt the South American to the Emirates this summer.
