Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has given the latest update on his contract situation.
The 26 year-old’s deal with the club is due to expire this summer and other club’s have been reportedly interested in snatching the midfielder on a free.
Talks remain ongoing but Wilshere admits the situation has been complicated by Arsene Wenger’s departure at the end of the season.
“Obviously the boss has left which has changed things a little bit because I don’t know who is going to be the manager next year and that can change things.
“But we are still talking and I am hopeful and the club is hopeful we can get something done.”
However, Wilshere says he’s “hopeful” he will agree a contract extension to remain at Arsenal.
The midfielder has been linked with a move to recently promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers.
However, despite Wolves’ interest, Wilshere appears to have his heart set on extending his stay with his boyhood club and sign a new contract.
“We are still in the same position really,” Wilshere said, reports the Mirror. “Not much has changed. We are still talking.
