Mesut Ozil’s arrival at Arsenal could be the best transfer of the summer if he can continue his brilliant form.
To date Ozil has provided a staggering 144 assists, 72 of these coming in 159 matches at Real Madrid. To put that into perspective, assist kings like Juan Mata, Cesc Fabregas and Lionel Messi all trail Ozil in the assist ranking, infact no-one beats him. His pass completion of 85% will no doubt get better at Arsenal with the midfielders rarely going below 90%.
His technical ability is world class and he will add an extra dimension to the midfield. His vision will be able to pick out even the tightest of spots and will now be able to be the star with Cristiano Ronaldo hogging the limelight at Real Madrid. Players sometimes shine even brighter when they are the main player.
The German born Turk opted to represent Germany at international level and earned his name at the 2010 World Cup, which secured a move to Real Madrid. The fact that he is still a core player in what is a star-studded German national team shows how good the player is.
Ozil’s goal scoring ability isn’t his strongest weapon. He has notched 59 goals in his career to date, which still isn’t a bad record, but it’s a good omen when he does find the net because Real Madrid won every game he was on the scoresheet.
His style of play fits perfectly in at Arsenal, something emphasised by Arsene Wenger on the official Arsenal website.
“We have watched and admired him for some time as he has all the attributes I look for in an Arsenal player.”
His link-up play with Santi Cazorla, Tomas Rosicky and Jack Wilshere is a mouth-watering concept while Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud should benefit with his vision and passing abilities.
