Juventus boss, Max Allegri rejected a switch to Arsenal this summer because he had been promised that the club would move for Cristiano Ronaldo.
That’s according to journalist Duncan Castles (reported by the Express), who has heard that Allegri has been the man behind pushing the deal through.
The Italian was one of the names in the frame for the Gunners job before they eventually appointed Unai Emery.
Ronaldo’s Real Madrid future is in doubt following a disappointing league campaign. Real have already parted with Zinedine Zidane and the reshuffle seems set to continue.
Ronaldo, 33, Portugal forward is Real’s all-time top scorer with 451 goals.
However his age, and Real’s need to reshape a squad that finished 17 points behind La Liga champions Barcelona last season, has encouraged the Italian champions to make their move.
Allegri, meanwhile, has overseen a stunning £88million bid for Ronaldo with talk in Spain that a move could be imminent.
