Arsene Wenger heaped praise onto new signing, Sead Kolasinac, following his impressive performance in the Community Shield against Chelsea.

Kolasinac was one of Arsenal’s stand-out players against Chelsea in the Community Shield on Sunday and post-match Wenger explained why he’d signed the former Schalke left-back in the first place.

“He is physically very strong, naturally,” Wenger said, reports the Mirror.

“You have players are pumped up in the gym, and players who are born strong, and he is the second.

“In the Premier League power plays a part, but it is not only that. I got him as well because of his attitude.

“You need always the combination of talent and attitude.”

“He looks to me that he has good talent and as well a strong, determined attitude, supported by a strong body.”

Not only was Kolasinac strong all over the pitch, he also scored his first goal for Arsenal, eradicating Victor Moses’s.

The 1-1 scoreline meant that the tie went to penalties, which gave Arsenal the chance to win for the ninth time at Wembley.

In the end, the Gunners managed to come away with a victory after winning 4-1 on spot-kicks.

On top of his crucial goal, Kolasinac also completed 93% of his passes, won three tackles, and an aerial duel.

He was a beast all over the pitch and has already become a firm favourite among Gooners.

Arsenal signed Kolasinac for free from Schalke this summer where the defender was also popular among the German fans. When he left, they even made him a banner!

During his six years in the Bundesliga, he made 123 appearances and despite assisting 13 times, he only scored four goals, which makes him finding the back of the net against Chelsea at Wembley even more impressive.

He’s also been capped 23 times for Bosnia after switching from Germany’s youth team.

Having another strong player who’s got a good attitude can only be a positive thing for Arsenal, since, at the moment, Granit Xhaka is probably one of the only Gunners to tick both boxes.

Wenger signing Kolasinac on a free is starting to look like a fantastic bit of business.
