Arsenal have completed the signing of French teenager Matteo Guendouzi.

The 19-year-old is the Gunners’ fifth new recruit of the summe r following the arrivals of Bernd Leno, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Lucas Torreira.

Guendouzi is likely to be part of Unai Emery’s first-team plans next season but things could have been very different.

Arsenal had initially been linked with another French teenager, Yacine Adli.

The 17-year-old was tipped to quit PSG for the Emirates but now looks set to remain in the French capital.

And French journalist Loic Tanzi has confirmed that Adli opted to remain in Paris rather than move to London.

“A few clubs had been interested in him, notably Arsenal,” he said.

“Some people said he had agreed to sign for Arsenal then turned around and decided to stay at PSG.

“But those closer to him said that it wasn’t a U-turn and that he hadn’t agreed anything with Arsenal.
