Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is many people’s tip to take a run at the Premier League Golden Boot this season.
The Arsenal striker set the top flight alight when he joined the Gunners from Borussia Dortmund last January.
The Gabonese forward scored 10 goals in 13 Premier League appearances for Arsenal, having netted 21 in 25 for the German giants during the first half of the campaign in the Bundesliga.
Arsenal shelled out £56million to bring the frontman to the Emirates in January, and he now has a third different manager’s tactics to get used to after Unai Emery replaced Arsene Wenger at the helm in the summer.
Aubameyang was unable to open his account for this season as Arsenal lost 2-0 to Premier League champions Manchester City on the opening day of the season, but he is hoping to have a successful season in London.
And speaking to ESPN, the striker revealed why he joined the north Londoners in January of last season, rather than the summer.
He said: “It was beneficial for me to arrive at Arsenal last January so I had six months to get used to the league, the country, the culture so I could be ready for my first full season.
“It was not easy at the beginning six months ago. It was such a big change. It was hard to find the rhythm, especially physically. But this time, I am ready. I am really feeling good.”Collectively, we want to play every competition to the maximum. We can’t hide. It would be great to end the season with one or more trophies. The league is obviously the priority because it has been a while since Arsenal won it.
“It will be complicated, though, and we know that. Personally, I want to contribute as much as possible with goals and assists. I don’t have a figure in mind but I really [think] it will be a very good season like the ones I had in the past at Dortmund.”
