Why Gonzalo Higuain’s Transfer To Arsenal Has Been Delayed

Gonzalo Higuain’s proposed move to Arsenal looks to have stalled. The Real Madrid striker was all set to complete his move to the Gunners last week but a delay in the deal has led to some suggestions that the deal has actually broken down.

Reports emerged a few weeks ago that both clubs agreed a £22 million fee along with personal terms at around £130,000-a-week. The only thing that was left to complete the deal was the appointment of a new Real Madrid manager, a job that was filled by PSG boss Carlo Ancelotti last week.

Ancelotti’s appointment was expected to speed up the process of the deal with all the terms and conditions in place however the deal to sign Higuain is no nearer to an end. A medical was reported to have been completed in Madrid last week yet still no confirmation on any deal has surfaced.

Arsenal’s main rivals, Juventus, have signed both Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente to leave no confusion on where Higuain will be ending up next season, so why the long wait.

Higuain was waiting to hear on Madrid’s next coach before deciding his next move, despite becoming frustrated at first team opportunities. Ancelotti has given the green light for Higuain to make way to Arsenal but the Argentine might fancy giving it one last shot at Madrid before leaving the club.

A secret second buyer could also be the reason for the delayed transfer with Higuain considering a switch to another club other than Arsenal. Monaco have been linked with every player worth over £10 million and they can’t be ruled out while a Spanish club could have also come in for him. Inter Milan are also searching for a striker, however Arsenal would still be a preferred destination.

Arsenal need to make a signal of intent this summer and being armed with a large financial war chest, they can afford to do so however they are yet to make a significant signing. Gonzalo Higuain would be the perfect start to the summer ahead for Arsenal but the transfer has been going on for weeks while other rivals have already closed deals with Fernandinho and Jesus Navas moving to Manchester City and Andre Schurrle completing his transfer to Chelsea. Liverpool have made a triple signing in the time Arsenal have been linked with Higuain.

  1. Please do not churn out words for the sake of it. You should write only if you have something substantial. There is enough speculative drivel floating around the net. Stop adding to it.

  2. I will tell you why the Deal has stalled .. Because we have a muppet that does everything and his name is Gazidies ..He could not seal an envelope let alone make a deal like this happen. I am sick to death reading about all these deals that have been done and confirmed and we are still waiting on the platform for the next train.. It’s becoming a Joke the way we do things , Can someone really give us an honest answer..

  3. I knew it drom bigining im totaly with u i dont k ow why arsenal always have to wait very long for any signing . Im sick and tired of all this all other club done there deal except wenger and gazidi noooo they have to make it so frekin hard look i gave up staf this

  4. I think the deal has not stalled. We are I think waiting for the deadwood to leave before we make space for new signings I think.

A marquee striker is coming to Arsenal for sure. If the Higuain deal materializes, it will be the best option since he is a prolific scorer.!!

  5. The pressure of waiting for our first is more killing than waiting to clich the champions league spot. Arsene do something!

    1. Let us keep our fingers crossed. Everything is possible to happen despite the delay which is of course worrisome to the fans.

  6. Arsenal fans can best be described as dreamers during transfer windows. What a shame…

  7. Please, please and please. There is nothing in what you are posting. Enough of all these players are linked, on the verge of completing hell of nonsense.

  8. What’s worse is the spuds are happily signing word class players like there’s no tomorrow, yet we were told that they would only be going to clubs who’ve qualified for the CL. Why is it always the case that for everything our fingernails are chewed to the quick before and if anything ever happens? I don’t remember this happening in the David Dein days.

  9. The brain of an Astronaut is not needed to know that Gazidis has always being the problem when it comes to acquiring the services of new players, definitely not Wenger. If only he can be replaced with a more trophy-driven fellow, then i believe the ARSENAL we all crave for can be actualized.

  10. Same old story. Arsenal Board are very deceitful & ‘unserious’. Anybody expecting a marque signing will end up with HBP. In fact, it might even be worse now that we have a former Bank Chief @ the helm. My advice: watch & see, but don’t expect anything ‘big’.

  11. Arsenal do this every year and sign no one.

We have fallen down the pecking up!

Most players dont see Arsenal as a force to reckon with.

  12. Both Gazidis and Wenger all have a role to play when it comes to signing players so Gazidis is not just d problem but d problem Arsenal fc has is that they have a stingy manager who believes he rather get a bulky share as a minor share holder from much money coming into d club rather than spending it on a proven player that will cost much.

  13. I think we have to do with what we have.
We have become a fighting 2nd tier club, so top talent does not want to sign for us.
We hope Podolski, Gervinho,Walcott, Giroud, etc, anf hope to win FA, Capitals cup etc, first. If Wigan csn do it why can’t we?
BPL, CL are a far cry, and for Big Boys, not for us.We need to think small first.

  14. How about if Real Madrid want to sell to the spuds to get Bale.A V B is looking for a striker and he knows that he can’t keep forever Bale specially if Madrid star asking.
Hopefully is not the case but something is not Wright. .

  15. Dont forget Sango the young french striker that has already been signed. And you can see, that Arsenal is selling players to make room for new. Arshavin, Denilson, Mannone, Bendtner, Doujure and Scuilaci are all gone. Everything has it´s time, but to get rid of players that is no need for more is good. Now Arsenal have more than 70 milion punds to buy, so there must be something happening, the waiting for the signing of Hugain is getting bored, but it reminds me litle bit, of the signing of Nasri, it took long time when i finally came, and we should have learn to not get disapointed with the signings of Arsenal … Hugain, Cesar and Fellani would be very good signing, But the rumours of Rooney coming to Arsenal, looks more like farytail to me at the moment . Dont forget, that Wenger is the master of the transfer windows

    1. Wenger is NOT the master of the transfer windows! He promised a very “active” transfer window in January but what did we get? – a last minute buy of just one player – and then asked us to “commend” him! Is that not disrespectful of fans? Active participation in d transfer market is part of the fun that fans pay for – the gunners have been deprived of this fun for too long!

  16. Always pushing fans to an annoying yet unexplained position. This should stop! Signing a player is not rocket science for God’s sakes! Even the dumbest of owners did!!

  17. Wenger not buying I’m an arsenal fan I cry everyday about Wenger signing a big name player if you are 13 14 15 ECT you will get buy over 24 or 20mil just can’t see arsenal buying this would be my last season as a gooner spurs I might be

  18. It is sad that the Arsenal Board has no respect for their fans! What is all this mental stress we are made to go through for? This stingy attitude must stop!

  19. this is so flustrating, am starting to the whole of arsenal, they can never start anything to the end. always loosing out on big names. may be they should now try cavani if cant afford even the 25 million pounds we needed.

  20. EVER SINCE THE T.HENRY ,VIERRA REGIMES, THE ONLY QUALITY SIGNING J HAVE SEEN IS CAZORA STILL IN,LETS WAIT TO SEE ARSENAL LOOSE ON ALL TROPHIES. KEEP IT UP WENGER, FOND OF FRUSTRATING SELF AT THE END OF SEASON. RESUME TO YOUR JUNIOR SIGNINGS. SOON WILL BE STRESS FREE ON ARSENAL DEPARTURE TOO.

  21. Its took AW and Ivan 58 secs to sign 5 players 2 seasons ago, why is it taking ages to sign one player now??

  22. Its took AW and Ivan 58 mins to sign 5 players 2 seasons ago, why is it taking ages to sign one player now??

  23. CAWARDS DIDN’T WANT TO BE KNOWN FOR THEIR POVERTY ONLY TO ANNOUNCE THEY HAVE ENOUGH TO SPEND BIG, WHERE IS THE ENOUGH GIZ? YOU NEED TO SHOW IT, FOND OF DISAPPOINTING STARS BEEN LINKED WITH, WE NEED ARSENAL BACK TO ITS FORMER TROPHIE REGIMES. WE ARE THE ONLY TEAM SO FAR WITH THE BEST COACH BUT STILL J CANT SEE TROPHIES COME IN, U WONT EXPECT A MIDFIELDER TO HASTLE GOIN TO SCORE AS THOUGH N STRKERS, ARSENE DO STH.

  24. This is frustrating, and this rumour of higuain and others coming to arsenal will continue till the transfer window close while we keep signing teenagers Dem it!!!!!!!

  25. Arsene has been managing the club for the past 18+ years. He knows what he is doing.. We can complain that we are not getting anything done but Arsene has the ability to buy cheap and turn them into world class. Remember Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, Robert Pires, Fredrick Ljungberg, Emmanuel Eboue, Gilberto Silva, Ray Parlour etc.. Every player has come to Arsenal and has gone out a legend.. They play football which is absolutely beautiful to watch.. No other team in the world can play with their style except maybe Barcelona… Just remember everyone has their downfall.. Look at Liverpool, star team and look where they are.. Arsene Wenger is one of the most dedicated and passionate managers in the history of the Premier League and all the leagues.. This is the man that took us to become the Invincibles..
