With Arsenal blowing everyone away in the Premier League, they transiently shift attention to Europe where they host last season’s finalists Borussia Dortmund. Once again, the name on the lips of everyone is Arsenal’s German midfielder Mesut Ozil and his countryman Lars Bender has been talk about him.
“Basically, I think it’s cool to play against such a world-class player. These are real challenges that I enjoy.
“He has such a great individual class that I cannot guarantee to win every duel against him. We can only successfully disturb him when we doubled up on him.”
“We all know what Mesut can do. But to reduce Arsenal only to him, would be a big mistake.”
It is really interesting to know how they have intend to stop Ozil (double up on him). If that’s their plan, it might just be counter-productive. There’s more to Arsenal than the wizardry of Ozil. I know he pulls the strings from the midfield but there are still others who make the team thick in attack. It would be foolhardy for any team to focus on Ozil and ignore Cazorla, Wilshere, Giroud and Ramsey.
That is the advantage in having many explosive players in a team. The opponents would be at a loss as to who to peg down to ground the team. Some seasons ago, it was Wilshere, then Van Persie, last season, it was Cazorla but this season, Arsenal are spoilt for choice, Ozil, Cazorla, Wilshere, Ramsey and Giroud can do the damage.
