Arsenal have started making preparation for the January transfer window. According to Jeremy Wilson of telegraph, Wenger has mandated his scouts to keep checks on Lars Bender, Ilkay Gundogan and Marco Reus. The trio have been on Wenger’s want list for quite some time and it appears the French man ready to make his move and he has earmarked the January window as the ideal time.
Lars Bender was a subject of a widely reported 18 million pound bid from Arsenal in the just concluded window but his Club Bayern Leverkusen refused to sell. If the Telegraph reports are true, Arsenal should be able to get their man in January for between 19-25 million.
Ilkay Gundogan has a release clause of about 25 million Euros according to reports and if Wenger really wants him, He will have to pay the release clause price.
Marco Reus was linked to Arsenal before he joined Dortmund about 3 years ago and has always been a player who Wenger have interest him. Reus will be difficult to prise away from Dortmund but with a bid of 25-30 million, Dortmund may consider selling.
It however remains to be seen if Wenger will want to spend as much as 70 million in the January transfer window just few months after sending 42.5 million on a single player.
