Wenger Given Go Ahead To Bid £40 Million For Striker

Luiz SuarezArsene Wenger has been given the go ahead to make a huge £40 million bid for Luis Suarez.

The Uruguayan has been identified as the Gunners number one transfer target following delays in the deal for Gonzalo Higuain. So far the Londoners have had a £30 million bid rejected and talks of a £35 million offer also fell on deaf ears.

It is believed Suarez has a £40 million release clause in his contract however Liverpool insist the clause only obliges the club to carefully consider offers matching it rather than accepting them. Wenger seems ready to test it.

Wenger is eager to start spending the £70 million war chest he has been given but has so far been unsuccessful. Real Madrid continue to up their asking price for Higuain while Manchester United insist Wayne Rooney is not for sale. Wengers deems Marouane Fellaini and Ashley Williams are valued too highly, which leaves Suarez as his only real target at the moment.

Suarez wants to leave the Merseysiders but so far they have kept to their word and rejected all offers thrown their way. Wenger’s urgency to bring in stellar signings could mean he wont give up on his pursuit of the tricky attacker leaving Liverpool with a huge gap to fill.

The club are rumoured to have agreed a £21 million offer for Brazil youngster Bernard but no official confirmation has been announced as of yet.

  1. I think it shows good intent if Arsenal do start bidding in the £40 million brackett. I’m not sure how well Suarez would fit in at Arsenal, unless he winds his neck in a bit. I also feel that whilst it is good Arsenal are showing a willingness to spend that they leave enough in reserve to be able to buy Cesc should he he decide he is willing to leave Barca this year!!

  2. BIGGEST load of BS out at the mo – apparently we wouldn’t pay £25 mill for higuain – despite never even putting in a bid for him – as confirmed by madrid’s president as well as shareholders within AFC – so the idea or very notion that wenger would even consider sanctioning a £40 mill deal to go through for a player is just LAUGHABLE at it’s very best………….also if they have bid £40 mill matching the release clause of his contract liverpool will have no choice but to sell so again a load of BS as a club couldn’t reject if the player wants to leave and clause paid
