Welcome to the Emirates! Arsenal complete deal for £120k-A-Week star

Arsenal have reportedly sent scouts to Bayer Leverkusen to cast their eye over two potential signings, according to the Daily Mail.

The Gunners joined other Premier League teams in assessing Hakan Calhanoglu and Julian Brandt before the Bundesliga broke up for Christmas.

Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton were also reportedly in attendance at the game against Cologne.

Calhanoglu is known for his quality from set pieces and has been attracting interest from England across the past two seasons. The Sun’s Jamie Gordon cited reports in Turkey, which have said Calhanoglu, valued at around €20million.

The 22-year-old can also play on the wing or as a secondary striker, and could provide Arsenal with the extra impetus needed to reach at least top four in Premier League.

Brandt, meanwhile, is a Germany Under-20 international who has established himself as a regular starter on the wing for Leverkusen and is rated at around €40m.

Brandt has established himself as a key member of the Leverkusen team this season, lighting up the Bundesliga with his intricate playing style. Here is a look at why he’s considered one of the most exciting prospects in German football at the moment:

Typically deployed on the left flank, there is a lot more creative responsibility on Brandt’s shoulders and it is a challenge he has relished. His darts infield and ability to pick a pass in tight pockets have given Leverkusen another attacking option; a return of two goals and six assists in the Bundesliga this season points to a maturing decision-making process too.
