Arsenal to various reports, Alvaro Morata is Wenger’s number one choice for a striker signing this summer. Other reports however claim reigning European champions Real Madrid have placed a £60million price tag on Spain international striker Alvaro Morata after Arsenal rival Chelsea tabled a bid for the striker.
According to Spanish outlet Marca, Premier League club Chelsea have tabled an offer of about £51million for the highly-rated striker, which is about £9million below Real’s asking price.
Reports in the press indicate that Morata’s representative was in Spain on Friday to try and seal a deal with the London club but their offer was rejected by Real Madrid.
Chelsea are not the only London club linked with Morata, as Arsenal are also interested in the striker, as reported by Football Insider,
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger searching for a new top striker after losing England international Danny Welbeck to injury for most of next season and failing to land Leicester striker Jamie Vardy.
Arsenal has now been informed they will have to meet Real Madrid’s valuation of the 23 year old striker, if the truly want to sign the striker.
The battle for Morata has now gone down to, ‘who wants him more’ as reports last week indicated that the incoming Chelsea boss Antonio Conte spoke with Morata in France in a bid to tempt him to West London, as he begins his first managerial reign in English football.
