According to Gazzetta dello Sport, as quoted by Sport Witness, West Ham have reignited their interest in Inter Milan and Argentine striker Mauro Icardi this summer transfer window.
The West London club has shown interest in Icardi since the start of the summer and according to Italian outlet, the San Siro club had received an offer from West Ham United earlier this summer and turned it down.
Inter Milan are not afraid of entering negotiations, but it’s believed they will want at least €40m for their captain and star player. Unfortunately for West Ham, they’re not the only team interested in the Inter Milan striker, as Spanish club Atletico Madrid are also believed to be eyeing the 23-year-old striker but are yet to table a formal offer.
Icardi is one of numerous talents to have emerged from Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy but decided to move to the Serie A in January 2011 with Sampdoria initially on loan but made the move permanent that summer for just £200,000.
The Argentine international broke into the first team in the 2013/13 season where he scored 10 times in 31 games and was later picked up by Inter Milan in a deal believed to be worth £10m. He has since score 52 times in 105 games while also assisting 15 times.
Icardi has also been linked with Premier league clubs likes Manchester United and Arsenal but the interest from Atletico Madrid will pose a huge treat to Arsenal’s pursuit
