When you score 27 goals and created four assists in 34 games, unless you are Ronaldo, Neymar, Suarez or Messi, you can’t be called a bad striker. This is why Arsenal fans have reason to be happy as according to various reports today, Arsenal are closing in on signing AZ Alkmaar forward Vincent Janssen for £20 million.
With Danny Welbeck injured and out till March next year, two months to the end of the next season, Arsenal certainly could do with the signing of another striker. Many Arsenal fans have been calling for the club to sign a truly world class striker ever since Robin Van Persie left the club but let’s be serious, we have zero chance of seeing Wenger spending £65 million on a striker.
Unfortunately this is the amount needed to sign a truly world class striker. But looking at Arsenal’s midfield, we really do not need a world class striker, we only need a prolific striker, someone young who can improve under a good manager like Wenger.
When Robin Van Persie joined Arsenal from the Dutch league, he was never world class but he left as world class same as Henry and many others. By signing Vincent Janssen for £20 million, Arsenal will be signing a world striker who is able to score the many chances our midfielders create and who have the potential to become world class in the near future.
