Arsenal have turned their attention to Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira as they look to bolster their midfield options this January, according to Shoot.
The 23-year-old Brazilian is set to be out of contract at the end of the season and is unlikely to renew his contract after making only seven appearances so far this season.
The midfielder had been on the fringe for much of his time under Mourinho even after a successful loan spell at Valencia last season, and it had been expected that the arrival of new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would see him get better chances, but so far it has not happened and there are now claims he could leave this January rather than at the end of the season.
The Gunners on their part have been navigating this season in a relatively satisfactory manner as they lie fifth on the log at the turn of the year in their first season under new manager Unai Emery.
A couple of players are set to leave the club at the end of the season when their deals expire and this includes Aaron Ramsey, with Mohamed Elneny also rumored to be considering leaving the Emirates if he fields sufficient interest.
There is surely going to be a space in the midfield and the Gunners are considering Pereira as a potential option to fill the void.
The player’s ability to play on either wing, through the middle as a no 10 or deeper as a central midfielder will be a huge asset to the Gunners.
It remains to be seen if the Gunners will make a move for him now or in the summer.
