Laurent Koscielny has turned down the chance to play for Theirry Henry at Monaco, according to reports. Henry’s Monaco side are currently two points off the bottom in Ligue 1 after 18 games, desperately in seek of some new defensive reinforcements. He’s already managed to lure Cesc Fabregas to the Stade Louis II, and he was aiming to add even more experience to his side with the signing of Koscielny.
However, according to Le10 Sport, the defender has rejected the chance to join the the club and he wants to remain at Arsenal. The 33-year-old has been at the club since 2010 and is regarded as one of their senior players, a status the Frenchman wants to keep.
Despite his high regard at the club, Koscielny has struggled with fitness and injuries this season, playing just six times since the start of the campaign in August. His injury issues hit again last Saturday when he was forced to pull out of the Gunners squad for their match against Blackpool due to a back injury. A potential new challenge – like Monaco – may have helped offer something fresh to help get Koscielny back to full fitness, but he prefers to stay in London.
