Arsenal will reportedly lock horns with Fulham in signing Cristian Pavon when the January transfer window opens.
The 22-year-old has broken into the Argentine national team and now looks set to take the next step in his career by moving to Europe.
It is understood Unai Emery wants to add an extra dimension to his attack and feels the winger can bring that.
The Sun report that Arsenal have begun negotiations with Boca Juniors over a pricey €45m move in the January transfer window.
Pavón joined the Buenos Aires giants in 2014 from Talleres de Córdoba where he signed his first professional contract at the age of 16. He has gone on to scored 19 times in 72 league appearances for the Xeneize.
He can play in the Arsenal system and is faster than most players in the Spaniard’s squad.
Boca are braced for a bid close to their asking price for Pavon and have fended off other Premier League clubs as they try to get their money.
Pavon has racked up 11 appearances for the Argentinian national team since making his debut last year, but he is yet to score for the South American nation.
Fulham are also reportedly interested in Pavón, who has signalled a desire to move to London, but the Cottagers are not prepared to meet Boca’s valuation.
