TOTTENHAM have reportedly dropped their interest in Bordeaux winger Malcom – handing a major transfer advantage to rivals Arsenal.
North London giants Tottenham and Arsenal have been keen on 20-year-old Brazilian ace Malcom in recent weeks.
Bordeaux are demanding £45m for youngster in January knowing the Premier League big guns have cash to splash.
The Daily Mail report that Tottenham have now opted to prioritise other targets despite being fans of Malcom.
Spurs are unlikely to complete any major deals this month and are instead looking to wait until the summer to bring in reinforcements.
That decision could clear the way for Arsenal to snap up the in-demand Malcom.
Arsene Wenger is keen on the attacker and has been linked with him as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez.
Manchester giants City and United are working hard to land Sanchez this month and Wenger wants a back-up before he’ll sanction an exit.
Malcom, who moved to Ligue 1 side Bordeaux in January 2016 from Corinthians, is high on Wenger’s wish list.
Wenger spoke out about the starlet prior to Arsenal’s Premier League trip to Bournemouth on Sunday.
He said: “He is a good player but nothing is happening. We are not on that case at the moment.
“I don’t rule it out. We are in the market and we are active. But I don’t want to give news that I cannot confirm. Things change very quickly.”
