Unai Emery has revealed he has not spoken to former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger since taking over from him.
The French veteran ended his 22-year reign at the end of last season after the club slumped to a sixth-place finish in the Premier League. He was replaced by Emery, previously of PSG and Sevilla, this summer.
Barring the summer additions, Emery has been working with the core of Wenger’s last team and his influence at the club remain
But Emery has not sought out any advice from him yet, although he does expect to speak to him at an upcoming UEFA coaches forum.
Asked whether he had discussed the club with the 68-year-old, he replied: ‘Not yet.
‘Normally, every year when we meet in Nyon every coach, in this meet, (we have a) conversation together.
‘I am sure we are going to meet together in the next week or month or near future.
‘Each coach needs to know also the player. Not the same relationships all the coaches with the players. I have my personality and I want to know with my directly opinion and my directly conversation with the player.
‘I have more information with the players for the club, for the person around me. The information with Arsene is sure important also for me but the best is my directly relationship with the player and the conversation with the player.’
