It seems Arsenal new manager Unai Emery have confirmed who will be his number one goalkeeper this summer.
Emery appeared to confirm Petr Cech will be Arsenal’s number one for the foreseeable future – despite his less than convincing performance against Manchester City.
The Gunners manager splashed out £22million on Bernd Leno from Bayern Leverkusen in this summer’s transfer window but named Cech in goal for his first competitive match as Arsenal manager at the beginning of the season.
Arsenal are engaged in a recognisable fight for the top four. Familiar though that particular fight is, there are many new elements this time round to stave off the ennui: a new head coach, a new style of play and a renewed enthusiasm in the stands.
However, as of yet, Arsenal don’t have a new first-choice goalkeeper. Despite the summer acquisition of Leno, Cech is still in possession of the gloves and many Arsenal fans find themselves wondering why.
Leno appears not to be Emery’s first choice keeper having been left out to sit on the bench in a completive first game against Manchester City who appears to be last season winner.
