Granit Xhaka is set for a starring role in Unai Emery’s new vision for Arsenal after signing a deal with the club, and the Spaniard believes the Swiss midfielder is yet to show his true potential.
The 25-year-old signed from Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach in 2016 after guiding the former German champions into the Champions League.
In his first two seasons with the Gunners, the deep-lying playmaker won over fans with his range of passing but also attracted critics, not least among pundits in the media.
However, after enjoying a strong end to the 2017/18 campaign that saw Arsene Wenger finally step away to replaced by Emery, Xhaka’s reputation is growing once more, and according to his new head coach the Switzerland international will be given a key role in a new-look Arsenal team.
“I’m delighted that Granit has extended his contract with us,” the Spaniard told the club’s official website.
