ARSENAL are reportedly interested in signing Borussia Dortmund playmaker Mario Gotze.
Gotze was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League with Liverpool after falling out of favour at Bayern Munich but Germany’s 2014 World Cup final goalscorer opted to rejoin Dortmund instead.
However, his first season back has not gone smoothly with a number of underwhelming performances.
In 23 Bundesliga appearances, Gotze scored just two goals and provided four assists as Dortmund finished 29 points behind Bayern.
Gotze has two years left remaining on his contract but the 26-year-old could be made available if a suitable bid is made.
And Sky Sports claim Arsenal, Everton, West Ham, Marseille and Valencia are all interested in signing Gotze.
It is claimed Dortmund are keen on recouping most of the £22m they spent on Gotze last year.
Earlier this week, Gotze opened up on his decision to snub Liverpool in favour of Dortmund in 2017.
“I decided to leave Bayern and Jurgen Klopp was interested in getting me to Liverpool. And I was also interested in working with him again,” Gotze said in the DAZN documentary ‘Being Mario Gotze’.
“It’s still existing. He is a world-class coach and that’s why it’s always an option.
“I decided to join Borussia Dortmund, but it was not a decision against Liverpool or Jurgen Klopp. But on the contrary.”
