Juventus are confident in-demand boss Massimiliano Allegri will commit his long-term future to the club amid interest from Arsenal.

Sky Sports News understands Allegri, along with former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique, is wanted by Arsenal to replace the departing Arsene Wenger, although both have concerns about the club’s management structure.

Allegri guided the Bianconieri to the Serie A title at the weekend as he clinched the double for the fourth season in a row as Juventus boss.

Speaking to an Italian radio station, Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta indicated the club’s desire is to see Allegri remain in Turin long into the future.

“There is a lot of optimism, beyond the formal aspect of the two-year contract that he still has with us,” Marotta said.

“It’s a relationship that has worked at its best: the results have shown the value of the coach and the club’s ability to offer support so I believe this relationship can continue.

“The president and the directors, we will have a meeting with him next week or as soon as possible to evaluate the future, an evaluation that also depends on what his feeling and state of mind is, but on our part there is absolutely so much optimism.”

Allegri is the darling of the Juventus faithful, but Marotta revealed the 50-year-old’s appointment as Antonio Conte’s replacement in 2014 was not a popular one with some of the club’s fans.

“I remember the reception reserved for Allegri very well,” Marotta said. “We were in the car, he and [Juventus chairman Andrea] Agnelli, and we were welcomed in Vinovo by a hundred angry fans who threw eggs at us.

“This was the climate of the moment, influenced by a bad evaluation of facts on their parts, but we were sure of the appointment.”
