A report from the Sun claims Arsenal have been handed a massive blow in signing Max Allegri has ruled himself out of the running to replace Arsene Wenger.
The Juventus chief was Arsenal’s No1 pick to take over from the veteran Frenchman this summer.
But Allegri, 50, has put the links to bed by insisting he will remain in Turin unless he is fired.
After winning a fourth consecutive Serie A title, the Italian said: “Will I stay at Juve? Yes, I have a contract to honour.
“If they don’t sack me, I’ll stay at Juventus next year too.”
Gary Neville has been critical of the Gunners’ attempts to line up a new manager.
The Sky Sports pundit, 43, has seen early favourite Luis Enrique distanced from the hot seat amid reports he wanted too much money.
And as the search broadens, Manchester United legend Neville thinks more planning was needed.
He told Sky Sports: “I’m shocked at the process it’s a right mess. That’s the problem.
“They are all over the place. The problem is now you can’t keep anything quiet. You have a live update on the process unfortunately.
“With Enrique they found out he wanted too much money. They found out after they approached him? They must have known.
“I don’t know the hierarchy at Arsenal now but it seems they’ve not deal with it particularly well.
“They should have had their guy lined up and ready to go. To me it’s been a mess since he’s gone.”
