It is widely known that Betting companies such as Skybet, Williamhill and co often get information about players’ movement and most times, when a bookmaker shorten the odds of a particular player moving to a club, it is because they have insider information in regards to that.
This is why Arsenal fans have cause to be happy as bookmakers Sky Bet has quoted the Gunners at 3/1 to sign Argentine and Napoli star Gonzalo Higuain.
Higuain, 28, is expected to leave the Italian club this summer after his representative who doubles as his brother confirmed via Sky Sports that the striker, whose current contract expires in the summer of 2018, would not be signing a contract extension with the Serie A outfit.
The Mirror reported back in May that Premier League side Liverpool were keen on bringing Higuain to Anfield, but Arsenal are 3/1 favourites going by Bookies Sky Bet prices.
Paris Saint-Germain are quoted second favourites at 5/1, while Arsenal rivals Chelsea are next at 6/1, with both Manchester clubs also in the mix and 8/1 and 12/1 respectively.
Should the Argentine does leave Napoli; it won’t be on the cheap. The former Real Madrid striker has a buyout clause of around £72 million according to Sky Sports, which might deter Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger. Though it must be said that there have been reports claiming the player could move for cheaper.
Without doubt, Arsenal certainly needs a new centre-forward. The inconsistent Oliver Giroud went 15 Premier League games without scoring in the second half of last season which undoubtedly contributed to Arsenal finishing 10 points behind eventual champions Leicester City.
The Argentine international striker on the other hand, scored 36 goals in 35 Serie A games. No wonder his buyout clause is so steep.
