Less than twenty-four hours after the rumours broke on social media that Sven Mislintat is leaving Arsenal, on Wednesday morning the Guardian have revealed the truth behind the Gunners split.
Sven Mislintat was hired by Arsenal in November 2017 to be their chief scout.
When Mislintat joined the Gunners, Ivan Gazidis will still the chief exec, while Arsene Wenger was firmly in the dugout.
Yet nowadays both Gazidis and Wenger are long gone, while Unai Emery is overseeing a major transition at the Emirates Stadium.
For Mislintat, the Guardian have confirmed that the German is leaving north London as his position in Arsenal’s shake-up isn’t changing as he’d hoped.
Why Sven Mislintat is quitting Arsenal
Sven Mislintat is leaving Arsenal because he’s been snubbed in his ambition to become Arsenal’s technical director.
The Guardian report the following:
Arsenal’s grand plans to restructure post-Arsène Wenger have begun to splinter with Sven Mislintat, brought in as head of recruitment, set to leave after feeling his position has become untenable.
Since Gazidis departed to join Milan and handed over to a new internal management scheme led by the director of football, Raul Sanllehi, and the managing director, Vinai Venkatesham, Mislintat’s chances of becoming technical director have diminished.
So why have Arsenal chosen not to appoint Mislintat as their technical director?
That’s not exactly clear, however it’s believed that former Brazilian Invincible Edu could get that role at Arsenal instead.
