Known mostly for his eagled-eye passes, Mesut Ozil has been assisted to score goals more than he has assist his team mates to this term.
Arsenal legend Paul Merson is in the claim that Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick is the pass master of the Premier League.
The former Gunner has been impressed by the 35-year-old, who has been a major part of the Red Devils’ form despite his advancing years.
Playing alongside Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba in the middle of the park, the ex-England international has helped the team to some promising victories against Tottenham and Crystal Palace.
‘United have turned a corner, though. Mourinho needs to tinker with the team a bit, bring a bit of pace in,’ Merson wrote for Sky Sports while speaking about United’s next match, versus West Brom.
‘This is a hard game, but [Paul] Pogba had his best game against Palace, [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic is on absolute fire, and [Michael] Carrick is still the best passer in the country.’
This is high praise for Carrick, seemingly claiming that he is better than the likes of Cesc Fabregas, David Silva, Mesut Ozil, and Kevin De Bruyne in this area.
