MANCHESTER UNITED fans have called on Jose Mourinho to swap Mesut Ozil for Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The Old Trafford faithful are fed up with Mkhitaryan for giving away possession too easily.
And they have taken to popular fans’ forum redcafe.net to discuss a possible swoop for Ozil.
The Arsenal star, 29, is out of contract at the end of the season and could leave on the cheap in January.
One fan wrote: “I’m reading people in this thread saying they wouldn’t want Ozil. I would like people to point how many players are better than him at his position. This would be a fantastic hiring.”
On a possible move for Ozil, another supporter added: “100 per cent yes. We need technical players in the final third who can control the ball, bring others into play and not loose it like Mkhi does 9/10.”
While another poster called for an outlandish deal to be completed, writing: “Swap him for Miki.”
The idea went down well with another fan replying: “With the recent frustrations with Miki’s play, must say it’s very tempting! My only problem is that he has a lot of mileage on him. Like Rooney, he’s been playing a lot for club and country. I would rather us go for fresher options with potential.”
For some, the possible arrival of Ozil, who worked with Mourinho at Real Madrid, was a bad idea.
One reasoned: “Watch the last two games of Ozil (Arsenal vs. Man City and England vs. Germany). He offers no urgency that we’ve lacked. When we have our backs against the wall and not able to create or penetrate a defence, I don’t see Ozil making a difference.”
Another simply said: “Another bottler in big games, no thanks.”
