Marseille are reportedly interested in signing Egypt international midfielder Mohamed Elneny, according to the Mirror.
The Ligue 1 side, who defeated Toulouse 4-0 in their opening league game of the 2018-19 campaign last Friday, have been linked with a late swoop for the out of favour Arsenal star.
The 26-year-old, who has 66 international caps for his country, was left on the bench as The Gunners lost 2-0 to defending champions Manchester City on the opening weekend of the new Premier League season.
Elneny scored one goal and provided four assists in 32 appearances in all competitions for the North London outfit last term.
Despite only putting pen to paper on a new four-year deal at the Emirates Stadium back in March, the central midfielder has been linked with a transfer away from Arsenal before August 31, with French side Marseille keen on his services.
New Gunners head coach Unai Emery brought in fellow midfielders Lucas Torreira and Mateo Guendouzi this summer, which could see Elneny drop down the Spaniard’s pecking order for the remainder of the campaign.
The Egyptian is contracted at Arsenal until June 2022, and is valued at £9m.
Elneny joined The Gunners from FC Basel in a deal worth up to £7.4m in January 2016, and has netted two goals in 72 games overall for the club.
