SERGIO AGUERO and Alexis Sanchez could swap clubs in January.
That’s the verdict of BBC commentator Jonathan Pearce, who revealed he wouldn’t be surprised if the deals happened in the wake of Arsenal’s 2-0 win over West Brom on Monday night.
Aguero has spent the past six years at Manchester City, bagging 176 goals and winning five trophies during that time.
But he’s seen his place as the No.1 striker at the Etihad come under threat since Gabriel Jesus arrived in England in January.
Aguero has responded to any doubts about his quality by getting on the scoresheet seven times already this season, as well as providing three assists.
Pearce doesn’t think he’ll be at City for the long-term though.
Speaking to Martin Keown and Mark Chapman on BBC Radio 5 Live, Pearce said: “Am I the only one here that thinks Aguero has been working hard for Manchester City over the years? He’s going to break the club’s scoring record.
“I think he’s a phenomenal worker, I think he’s joined in, he works hard in the box, and I think this is another chip at him.
“I don’t think it’s a marriage made in heaven, this – Aguero and Pep [Guardiola] – I really don’t.
“This [criticism of work-rate] has happened too often.
“I think Aguero is a sensational player. One of the best I’ve ever seen.”
Pearce then want on to suggest Aguero and Sanchez could switch clubs when the transfer window opens again.
“He [Guardiola] still wants Sanchez, that could happen in January,” he added. “Highly probable that will happen in January.
“And it wouldn’t surprise me at all if Aguero comes here [Arsenal].
“It was mooted in the summer, wouldn’t surprise me at all.”
