Gary Neville has advised Liverpool to sell Luis Suarez to Chelsea instead of Arsenal.
The Manchester United legend thinks that the Anfield giants should sell their coveted striker to the Blues rather than to Arsenal, since he believes it will only strengthen a team which is almost guaranteed to finish above the Reds, while the Gunners are thought to be one of Liverpool’s direct rivals for one of the Champions League spots.
Arsenal are reported to be going back to Liverpool with an improved offer for the Uruguayan which will be close to the £50 million that Liverpool value the striker at. Meanwhile Arsenal’s latest transfer target Luiz Gustavo, is said to be close to finalising his move to Bundesliga side Wolfsburg, who along with Napoli are rivalling the Gunners for the Brazilian’s signature.
Arséne Wenger has revealed that Arsenal will be ‘active in the transfer market’ till it ends and that 18 days are more than enough to bring in new players. He also spoke about his reasons for letting Gervinho go to Roma, after a tough couple of seasons at the Emirates, and said, “I made that decision [to sell Gervinho] because he looked to play with a lack of confidence, especially at the Emirates.”
“He is a very creative player, an instinctive dribbler and for that you need a lot of confidence to be completely efficient. I felt that in the last six months it was very difficult for him to express his talent in a confident way.
“Then you sit there and think, ‘Do I bring him back or does he need a new challenge to get that confidence back?’ and I did not want to stop him from getting a new chance,” he continued, in an interview with Arsenal Player.
The Frenchman also revealed the team news, before the season opener against Aston Villa on Saturday. Read more about it here.
