The Sun claims Arsenal are in talk to sign Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno and could snap him up for £22million.
The report further claims Arsenal new board are looking for a new stopper, to replace aging Petr Cech and unsettled David Ospina not seen as long-term options.
Arsenal are looking to trigger the 26-year-old’s release clause at Bayer, which is set at just £22million.
The Gunners face competition from across Europe for the Germany international, most notably from Atletico Madrid.
Leno, who is believed to have snubbed Napoli, is currently contracted with Leverkusen until 2020.
Bild also suggest that Leno is keen to spread his wings and sees the Emirates as the ideal place to progress his career.
His current release clause stands at around £17.5million which wouldn’t put the Gunners off.
However, with Arsene Wenger’s successor likely to be given a transfer budget of £50m, funds will have to be spent wisely.
