Florentino Perez has defended Real Madrid’s decision to sell Mesut Özil to Arsenal. Fans of the club were angry at the sale of the German and have made their feelings known however the Real president has armoured his departure.
There had been suggestions that the arrivals of Isco and Gareth Bale had unsettled the 24-year old and he wanted to leave for guaranteed first team football.
“The player and his entourage told us he wanted to leave the club. And no-one should feel uncomfortable in their environment.”
Perez’s comments were made to ensure the German was not pushed out of the club but that the player opted to leave and the club didn’t want players at the club who didn’t want to be there.
Özil has been welcomed at the club with great delight with a superb performance on his debut against Sunderland showing his talent but his departure from Madrid has still left negative emotions in Spain.
