Real Madrid coach Carlos Ancelotti has again raised the issue of Ozil’s exit. The departure of the German from Bernabeu generated a lot of heated debate and while Ozil had since moved on, it seems Real have still not though Ancelotti is pretending they have.
“I don’t regret Ozil leaving,” “I wish him luck but we don’t need him as we’re doing fine in attack without him.
“We’re scoring a lot of goals, but we need to find balance as we are conceding too many. We need to get the team to gel.”
“He’ll stay here [in Madrid] to train for 15 days and he will be ready for our next game [against Malaga on October 19].
“He’s not too happy as he was excited about being able to play. He’s been through a difficult time, but psychologically he is fine.
“He is a relaxed guy and his fitness problems are not serious.”
Interesting thoughts from the former AC Milan boss but is he really sure they don’t need him? Is he sure that they are doing just fine in attack? I know they are blowing everyone away in their Champions’ League group, nothing short of that was expected so far considering the fact that they were playing against Galatasaray and Copenhagen. Their real test will come against Juventus. Let’s see if they will slice through the Old Lady the way they have done against their earlier foes.
They might be cruising in Europe but it has been a struggle for them in the La Liga. With just 6 matches under their belt, they are already 5 points behind Barca and city rivals Athletico Madrid. Their loss against Athletico contributed immensely towards it. In the Madrid derby, the Los Blancos were blunt in attack as they failed to create chances. Mr. Ancelotti, are you sure Ozil’s magical feet won’t have unlocked that tight defence?
It is still early days. Whether or not they miss Ozil will be known at the end of the season. For now, let’s see what the future holds for them with Isco, Bale and without Mesut Ozil.
