Arsenal would take the short trip across London to face Chelsea in a match Wenger and his lads will be desperate to win as the Frenchman ( Wenger ) celebrates his 1,000 game in charge as Arsenal manager. With Arsenal back in the title race after Chelsea lost to Aston Villa And Arsenal defeated their arch rivals Tottenham in the north London derby last week, winning this match against Chelsea will decide the fate of Arsenal who should they win against Chelsea, will have a chance of going 2 points above Chelsea if they defeat Swansea next Tuesday.
Goal keeper :
Wojciech Szczesny gave Spurs their only chance in the North London derby but he was calm when it mattered so I’ll have him in goal once again.
Contract rebel Bacary Sagna is no doubt going to play at right back and Gibbs at left back. Koscielny and Mertesacker were rock solid against Spurs so I’ll be hoping for a repeat performance from our centre backs.
Gone are the days when Arsenal were spoilt of choices in this area. Injuries to key players means it is a pretty straight forward selection.
Arteta has been a bit off colour and so I would pick Flamini in the holding role just in front of the back four, hopefully he can keep it clean and stay out of the referee’s books. Cazorla and and Ox-lade Chamberlain have excelled in the centre creative role so we stick with them.
Podolski on the left, as I love his directness of play and his left would be a danger all game long. Rosicky on the right, after his goal against Spurs, just anything is possible with him at the moment. Giroud central, hopefully he (Giroud) can score what might be his most important Arsenal goal yet and win us the three point.
So there it is, my line up for tomorrow’s crunch tie.
