Jack Wilshere is reportedly refusing to give up on playing for Arsenal and is apparently determined to fight for a place in the first team.
Despite there allegedly being no new deal in sight and just one year left on his current contract, Wilshere is reportedly refusing to give up.
The Daily Mail claim that while Arsenal have given the midfielder permission to leave this summer and are willing to listen to offers, the 25-year-old is working harder than ever to return to fitness and fight for his place.
In April, Wilshere suffered another hairline fracture to his fibula while playing against Spurs on loan at Bournemouth. This, understandably, ruled him out for the rest of the season. However, the England international is now back in training at London Colney, albeit not full training with the rest of the Arsenal squad.
Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey, for obvious reasons, are Arsene Wenger’s first choice central midfielders, while Francis Coquelin and Mohamed Elneny are his second, which suggests that there isn’t a whole lot of room for Wilsh’.
However, perhaps with Elneny playing at centre-back in pre-season recently, this leaves an opening.
Sampdoria, Antalyaspor and Swansea, as well as boyhood club West Ham, have reportedly made ‘firm offers’ to take Wilshere on loan next season. However, with just one year left on his current deal, you’d have to imagine that the Gunners would rather just cash in while they still can.
Wilshere was in attendance at Arsenal’s open training day at the Emirates on Thursday, and shared a picture of himself on social media afterwards saying how good it felt to be back.
