The axiom that once a Gunner is always a Gunners stands and it evident in the way former players continue to lend their support to the club.
According to report, former Arsenal right back Lauren has told Wenger he is ready to lace his boots for the club if he’s needed.
Lauren, who made 242 appearances for the Gunners from 2000 to 2006, lifted seven trophies during his time in north London and is recognised as one of the clubs greatest ever full-backs.
The Arsenal Invincible was enjoying his 40th birthday on Thursday and the club’s official account tweeted, ‘Hey Lauren, we hope you have a very happy 40th birthday.’
And the former Cameroon full-back, who is renowned for his antics on social media, replied in style ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Burnley at the Emirates this weekend.
“Thank you!! I’m turning 40 but can still give you a hand if the boss needs me,’ Lauren responded.
Considering he hasn’t played since 2010, when he made his last professional appearance for Spanish outfit Cordoba, we’re guessing he probably won’t receive a phone call from Wenger.
But Carl Jenkinson has been linked with a move away from the Emirates which would free up a space at right-back… stranger things have happened!
