Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has hit out at Arsenal‘s Arsene Wenger as the race for a top four spot heats up in the final few games of the season.

The Spaniard did not take too well to Wenger’s claims too many Premier League teams are now on ‘holiday’ after Liverpool strolled to a 4-0 win at West Ham at the weekend.

The City boss believes Wenger should have done better over the course of the season to ensure his side weren’t in the situation they find themselves in now.

The Gunners take on Sunderland and Everton in their final two matches, and Guardiola has suggested that they too are up against teams with little left to play for.

‘I never saw one player in my life go to the pitch and not try to win the game,’ Guardiola said.

‘Arsenal play against Sunderland and Everton – one is relegated and one is in the Europa League – so it is the same situation.

‘One is relegated and one is in the Europa League, so it’s the same situation. If you don’t want to complain, do it better during the season and you will not have this problem.’

City’s final two games are at home to West Brom and away to Watford, while Liverpool have just one more game to play at home to Middlesbrough
