Time was when Arsenal sold most of their elite players as they could no match the wage bills of other clubs but Arsenal now have a strong financial base.
Arsene Wenger has insisted that Arsenal can meet the financial demand of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.
The pair remain in talks with the Gunners over new contracts, with their current deals set to expire in 2018.
Ozil is currently Arsenal’s top earner with a weekly salary of £140,000, while Sanchez is just below that on £130,000 a week.
Reports have speculated that the players want their wages increased to the £384k-a-week and Wenger has revealed that the club are no longer in the position of selling their best players.
‘We can give financial satisfaction to players at this club,’ the Frenchman insisted on Friday.
‘Before the gap was too big to keep our players, we could not compete, we had to sell our players.
