Jack Wilshere is on the brink of finally committing his future to Arsenal, according to reports.
The midfielder has rejected numerous deals with his current contract expiring in the summer.
Wilshere, 26, was offered the chance to extend his stay with his boyhood club but was told he had to take a 25 per cent pay-cut.
But the club have returned with an improved, last ditch offer and are confident that the England international will sign a three-year deal with the option of a 12 month extension.
The Mirror claim that his new contract offers a large pay-as-you-play deal on top of his basic salary which could see him pocket a rise if he can stay fit.
Everton, Wolves and Italian giants Juventus were all ready to pounce by offering him a lucrative deal.
And departing boss Arsene Wenger revealed that he is confident Wilshere will stay with the club.
He said: “It looks positive for the club.
“I am not involved in negotiations, but I’m still in touch with Jack if he wants my advice.
“I am convinced, like I was always, that his future is here.
“It was always my wish and I think it will happen, yes.”
