Frank Lampard’s Derby County have beaten a host of clubs to the signature of Arsenal youngster Aaron Eyoma, with the youngster signing on at Pride Park.
Eyoma spent time on trial with Queens Park Rangers last season and had been pursued by a host of other sides, but he told of Derby’s style of play being a factor in him choosing the Rams.
“I came here knowing that Derby was a big Championship club that was renowned for playing attractive football, similar to what I had been used to at Arsenal,” he told the club’s website.
“That was a big appeal for me. There were a few different Championship and League One clubs that had expressed an interest in taking me, but when I came here and took a look around the facilities, I thought they were great.
“I knew this was an opportunity that I couldn’t miss.”
Eyoma played twice for Derby’s U23 side last season on trial, against Spurs and West Ham, and can operate at right-back or in a more advanced role wide on the right. He’s also been known to play up front and even on the left wing.
It was widely expected he would be released by Arsenal this summer, but he now links up with Darren Wassall in the Derby County academy set up.
