Arsene Wenger has a reputation for keeping his powder dry in the transfer market, but previous January signings include Theo Walcott, Andrey Arshavin, Nacho Monreal and Mohammed Elneny. Will the long-serving Arsenal manager look for another addition this time around?
On player that has been on the transfer wishlist of Arsenal is Atalanta’s Frank Kissie, who has been impressive this term as a box-to-box midfielder.
According to Daily Express, the player is being sought after by United too but he is on his way to London after Chelsea tabled a £25 million bid for him.
Impressively, Atlanta are only three points off a Champions League spot and Kessie has played a vital role in pushing them up the table.
The Ivorian, dubbed the ‘next Yaya Toure’, is part of a youthful and dynamic Atalanta side who are enjoying a fine season in Serie A.
Given the plethora of midfielders at Arsenal, there’s no need for another midfielder in the mould of Kessie.
