JACK WILSHERE held direct talks with Trabzonspor over a summer move away from Arsenal.
That is according to Trabzonspor chief Muharrem Usta, who claimed he personally held discussions with Wilshere about a season-long loan deal.
Wilshere, 25, was heavily linked with a move away from Arsenal during the summer transfer window.
West Ham, Newcastle, Swansea, Sampdoria, Fenerbahce and Antalyaspor were all interested in securing his signature.
But it appears as if Trabzonspor came closest to getting a deal over the line for the Arsenalmidfielder.
However, club chief Usta revealed a deal collapsed at the last minute.
“I held direct talks with Jack Wilshere, ” Usta told Turkish-Football.
“We wanted him on loan and were close to a deal but the move stalled at the last moment.”
Wilshere is yet to feature for Arsenal this season after suffering a broken leg during his loan spell at Bournemouth last term.
But he has stepped up his recovery by appearing twice for the reserves.
And he could be in line for a return to first-team action when they take on FC Koln in the Europa League on Thursday (8:05pm).
Wilshere’s current contract at the Emirates expires at the end of the season.
