With Jamie Vardy deal dead and world class strikers in shortage in world football at the moment, Arsenal scouts are said to have been put on extra work in a bid to try to get the club a striker who will score the numerous chances Arsenal create. To this end, reports from the Brazilian media today is claiming Arsenal have officially made an enquiry for the services of 19-year-old Santos striker Gabriel Barbosa – also known as Gabigol.
Gabrigol has recently been linked with a move to Real Madrid and Barca but it seems Wenger is now keen to beat the Spaniard to the signing of the player as both Spaniard club seem not to have an immediate need for him.
The report of Arsenal’s interest in Gabrigol was just about two hours ago broken on twitter;
Gabigol: “I have proposals that please me from big European clubs, but that’s with my parents and my agents. But I’m happy at Santos.

The youngster is one of the highly rated strikers in the Brazilian league which explains the links to the Real Madrid and Barca. He reportedly has a 18 million release clause but valued at 50 million.
He is expected to be one of the key players for Brazil in the Olympics in August.
