Arsene Wenger has hinted that there will be no more signings this summer, admitting he’s having a tough enough task offloading the players he doesn’t want.
After a good start to the transfer window, it seems things will be ending with a whimper. For the past few weeks, Arsenal have been focusing on offloading players and have had little success.
Now according to Arsene Wenger, this will remain the focus until the end of the summer. “Getting players out keeps you as busy as getting people in, so I think I will be busy,” Wenger said, reports Football London.
With a boated squad, it’s important that Arsenal sell these players so that there is more room to accommodate new players in the future. Arsenal began the summer by signing Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette, but then spent weeks chasing a lost cause in Monaco’s Thomas Lemar.
There have been links with Nice’s Jean-Michael Seri as well, however Arsenal have yet to make a move for him. With two weeks of the window remaining, Arsenal are close to signing nobody and are struggling to sell players. It’s far from an ideal situation.
Things can change very quickly, especially as the deadline draws closer. However, Wenger’s comments do seem to imply that he’s preparing to go with what he has.
