Arsenal have confirmed that Japanese forward Takuma Asano will extend his loan at Stuttgart for another season.
Asano made 26 appearances for the German side last season as the secured promotion back to the Bundesliga.
The 22 year old has been unable to secure a work permit at Arsenal as he has not played enough games for Japan.
He would need to participate in at least 75% of Japan’s games over the previous two years as they’re ranked 45th by FIFA. He has played in 10 of his countries 22 games in that period.
Asano, who signed for the Gunners last summer from Sanfrecce Hiroshima in the J-League did well during his time with Stuttgart last season.
Even if he had managed to secure a work permit then there is a good chance he would have been sent on loan once again.
There is a lot of competition for places in his position at the moment and first team football will help him to develop more than the odd cup game that he would receive if he stayed.
