Arsenal have identified former player Marc Overmars as their first choice to become technical director.
Sven Mislintat, the club’s head of recruitment, is likely to depart amidst unrest within the scouting department.
Overmars, who played for Arsenal between 1997 and 2000, has been working as Ajax’s director of football for nearly seven years.
The 45-year-old’s record at Ajax has been mixed, but he did oversee the development of prospects such as Frenkie de Jong, Matthijs de Ligt and Justin Kluivert.
Sportsmail understands that former Arsenal midfielder Edu is also under consideration for the position, although it is expected that he will turn down the job.
Mislintat, who previously worked for Borussia Dortmund, was appointed by Arsenal in November 2017 and was influential in the signings of a host of players including Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Bernd Leno.
Communication between Mislintat and certain figures within the recruitment staff is said to be minimal, which has caused issues with regards to identifying transfer targets.
